About

While many artists hone in on a defined sound, Sick Upstairs chooses to paint in broader strokes. Sonically, he draws from a wide array of genres, pulling in influence from everything from Hardcore Metal, EDM, Industrial, and Blues. To put it in his own words, “think of it as a mash-up of Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode”. Sick Upstairs is a solo project and the alias of Christopher Horton, a multi-genre outfit originally from Boston, Massachusetts now residing in the North East Georgia mountains. Growing up during the infancy of the highly influential hardcore scene in Boston, Sick Upstairs has paid his dues and has grown to become a familiar face within those circles. As a performer and touring artist, he has opened for the likes of The Unseen, Blood For Blood, Dropkick Murphys, and Shootyz Groove. With over 25 years spent refining his craft as a well-rounded engineer, producer, and musician, Sick Upstairs builds on a solid foundation of both knowledge and technique. This was demonstrated in his self-titled EP, released in 2019 and on his imprint, ‘Anti-Anti’. While he is not one to shy away from group projects, Sick Upstairs continues to serve as an outlet for him to let go in creative ways he could have never achieved in a traditional live band.
